December 1, World AIDS Day

Today is World AIDS Day, a day to raise awareness about the AIDS crisis throughout the world. This is what I want to do and especially to raise awareness for prayer about this epidemic. Here are some statistics that I found on bbc.com. The hardest hit areas have been sub-Saharan African and India. The problem has been rapidly spreading in China as well.
-Over 40 million people around the world are living with HIV or AIDS
-Just under 14,000 new cases of HIV infections occur every single day
-95 per cent of all AIDS cases occur in the world's poorest countries
-Over 4 million people were infected with HIV in 2006
-3 million people died from AIDS-related illnesses in 2006 - that's more than 8,000 deaths a day
Some Prayer Requests related to HIV/AIDS in the world-
-Pray for healing, salvation, support, and compassion in the midst of this disease.
-Pray for those who need the resources of prevention, education, treatment, and care.
-Pray that a cure for AIDS will be found.
-Pray that people will not be silent concerning the cause of AIDS and the need for Christ to help change lives.
-Pray that people that are suffering and dying of AIDS will have God's comfort and peace on their lives.
-Pray that God's Word, Spirit, and salvation provided for mankind would spread faster than this disease.
