Evan Michael Haley, part 2
Here are some more pictures of Evan, as promised. There's more where this came from.
Here's Evan, Christine and Dr. Graciela Duque. She is Christine's OB/GYN and is a real Godsend. She has helped us out so much and has been a big blessing. She's been there all the way and she was the one that delivered Evan and is continuing to help Christine. As we mentioned in the newsletter, the care here at the hospital has been excellent. It looks like we're going to stay here until tomorrow.
Here's Evan and Christine.
Me and Evan...one of the first pictures of just us.
This is one of my favorite pictures of him. Isn't he so cute! All these pictures were taken yesterday.
I guess I'll tell about his name now and birth later on (maybe I can have Christine write about that another day). I will say that it was not a c-section, it was natural with the help of an epidural and it was pretty quick (we got to the hospital by 2:00 am and she delivered at 8:04 am.)
Evan is the Welsh version of John. We can remember John the Baptist and John the disciple in the New Testament. It has various meanings but some of the main ones (that are related to us) are 'gift of God' or 'God is gracious.' It is also close to Christine's maiden name- Evans.
Michael is my dad's name, it is my middle name and it means 'Who is like God' or 'who resembles God.' The name is from the Archangel Michael that the Bible mentions.
As I close I want to put some scriptures related to these names. They are also prayers for our child.
Luke 1:13-17-"But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth. Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."
Psalm 113:4-6-"The Lord is exalted over all the nations, his glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth?"
Well, I guess this is all for now. I will try to put on some more pictures later on. Thanks for praying for us and thinking of us.

Felicitaciones on Evan's safe arrival! We are so happy for you and the way everything seems to have gone so well with the birth. I knew you would be posting photos and glad I checked this afternoon.
AWESOME!!!!! He is ADORABLE!! I love the name - it is really great. I've been praying for Christine all day - hope she is doing better.
We Praise our Great God together with you.
Cute baby Ben and Christine. Be sure to tell Evan hello for me - he is a very lucky boy.
Congratulations and good luck.
Well *I* am just BURSTING with excitment, joy, and thanksgiving for you all!!! We are ALL SO HAPPY FOR YOU!
Welcome to the world, Evan Michael! The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
We love you all.

He is very cute (but what would you expect - he is a Haley). I think the picture of him holding his arms us is him indicating a 3-point shot - he is going to be excellent at basketball. Look forward to meeting him!!!
love,
Matt and Becca
